The first impression of Georgina's paintings is of bold abstraction, harking back to her formative years training at Hornsey College of Art and the Bauhaus traditions. Her vision has expanded since then, influenced by living in Sweden and Switzerland, and fascinated by both structure and use of colour.
Her initial inspiration, whether geometrical organisation of the composition or the natural world, is valuable to begin a work, but each painting takes on its own being and evolves as an individual piece, aiming to 'communiciate feeling through the medium of paint'. The emotive power of colour is important to Georgina, using colour and form, line and tone as the painting dictates.
Evolving over time, the paintings take on a depth both of texture and emotion, and have a serenity - a completeness - about them, which beyond the often striking compositon, rewards long contemplative viewing.
