What first caught my eye with Julia's painting were the colours and shapes within her paintings, the activity they create, the tensions, balance and energy.
She says "The work is a reaction to my surroundings, a reworking of history and memory; things seen, past and present. The starting point for the paintings being a familiar Welsh estuary landscape, and the urban surroundings of my studio in London." And drawn from these visual experiences is an expression of a state of mind and view of the world.
Julia trained at Chelsea College of Art & Design and Wimbledon School of Art, and since graduating in 1993 her work has been exhibited in a variety of fairs and galleries including The Discerning Eye, the Affordable Art Fair and the Beatrice Royal Gallery.
I am delighted to introduce her work in our Summer Show this year.
